
In 1986, the Fondation pour l’Architecture is created following the architect Philippe Rotthier’s initiative. The exhibition “Landscapes of Architecture” for the inauguration presented a thematic selection of architectural drawings and models among the most remarkables of the Archives d’Architecture Moderne’s collection.
Twenty years had passed and the AAM’s collection has been enriched considerably : nearly two millions of documents are counted today and constitute one of the most important collections of architectural documents in Europe. It offers a view on the diversity of belgian architecture between 1850 and the beginning of 2000.
The 200 drawings and models selected present an extraordinarily richness, through the quantity and the diversity of projects and programs broached, as well as their aesthetic quality.The current taste for architectural drawings and models has considerably amplified since the last years, this renewed interest is manifested in several international exhibition.
The most notable realisations of an hundred of architects are presented, among them figure Joseph Bascourt, Albert Bontridder, Victor Bourgeois, Rennat Braem, Gaston et Maxime Brunfaut, Peter Callebout, Jean Canneel, Alban Chambon, Louis Herman De Koninck, Charles De Meutter, Lucien François, Emile Goffay, Paul Hamesse, Gaston Ide, Sta Jasinski, Ernest Jaspar, Henry Lacoste, Servais Mayné, Antoine Pompe, Georges Ricquier, Charles Van Nueten, Jules Jacques Van Ysendyck and some contemporary architects.
