The exhibition explores the principal facets of the rich and diverse work of this multi-talented artist. He began his career as an apprentice ornamentalist in Paris, moved to Brussels at the age of 20, established a European reputation as creator of theatre interiors in the oriental style, achieved fame as architect for Leopold II and leading names in industry and finance, and was lauded in Brussels for his salons at the Hôtel Métropole… before fading into obscurity.
